Eremia 3 oil appraisal well update onshore Perth Basin, Western Australia

Posted: 9 December 2004

Origin Energy Limited advises that drilling of the field appraisal well Eremia 3, operated by ARC Energy and located in the onshore Perth Basin Production Licence L1, was at 0600 WST performing a wiper trip prior to running wireline logs.

Since the last report, 216mm (8 ½ inch) hole was drilled from 1,335 metres to 2,216 metres measured depth. A cement plug was then set at 2,216 to 2,103 metres and a kick-off plug was set at 1,650 to 1,550 metres. The well was then side-tracked (with the sidetrack designated Eremia 4) to a total depth of 2,273 metres with a bottom hole location approximately 90 metres to the northeast of the original reservoir intersection.

Both well bores intersected the Dongara Sandstone reservoir just below the Eremia field oil water contact and Eremia 4 is now to be completed as a water injector to provide pressure support to the main Eremia Field pool.

Preliminary co-ordinates for the surface drilling location are as follows:
Latitude 29o 18’ 33.823” S
Longitude 115o 01’ 05.1787” E

Participants in L1 and L2 (excluding the Dongara, Mondarra and Yardarino fields) and Eremia 3 and 4 are:
Arc Energy Limited (Operator) 50 per cent
Origin Energy Developments Pty Limited 50 per cent (a wholly owned subsidiary of Origin Energy Limited)
