AMEC wins contract for BP Harding offshore gas project

Posted: 27 October 2005

A combination Gulf of Mexico and North Sea expertise was a major factor in AMEC being selected to provide engineering and project management services for BP's Harding Area Gas project in the North Sea.

The value of AMEC's multi-million dollar contract has not been announced.

The award of the contract, which will be for pre-sanction engineering with options for detailed design and project management assistance, is anticipated to commence in January 2006, subject to the necessary project approvals.

The project includes a proposed new gas production platform, which will be bridge linked to the existing BP-operated Harding platform located 320 km north east of Aberdeen.

"We are delighted to have been selected for this major contract by BP, one of our long-term customers," said Neil Bruce, managing director of AMEC's Oil and Gas business. "This will be a significant investment in new facilities on the UK Continental Shelf and will bring together the best of North Sea and Gulf of Mexico practices, drawing on the combined expertise of our UK operations and AMEC-Paragon based in Houston."
