Breakfast seminar launches Aberdeen Emergency Response Service Centre

Posted: 9 November 2005

Representatives from the oil and gas industry, media and the business community attended a breakfast seminar launching an Emergency Response Service Centre (ERSC) in Aberdeen.

Based at Marine House, Blaikies Quay, the ERSC has been developed by leading emergency response and crisis management provider, Rubicon Response.

The facility will provide multiple North Sea operators with access to a dedicated and professional emergency management service.

It will boast state of the art technology and will provide an integrated and standardised response with the emergency services and regulators. The centre is due to become operational in the coming months.

The breakfast event at the Queen’s Hotel attracted industry experts, including: Hugh Shaw, Deputy SOSREP who delivered a presentation outlining the need for a co-ordinated approach to emergency response; Dr John Wills who facilitated the seminar and Jim Walker, Managing Director of Rubicon Response, who also presented.

“The ERSC will launch open officially in January,” said Mr Walker. “But we felt it important that we update our colleagues in the oil and gas industry and indeed the wider community.

Although immediately marketable available to the oil and gas sector, the ERSC can be utilised in other industry sectors, for instance the shipping and transport industries.

“The breakfast seminar was a great means of sharing our strategy and I am delighted so many people attended.” added Mr Walker. “I think the seminar was a tremendous success providing an opportunity to discuss the impact that the creation of the ERSC will have on the oil and gas industry. The support from around the room was clear – all concerned agreed that an integrated and standardised emergency response facility is the way forward in managing ER incidents.”
